Well, a starting point has to be that you like the TLM 49's tube-emulating circuitry. I think it sounds great on some people, but on most I think it's a very artificial sounding mic...but maybe it's because it sloughs off the low end and hypes the high end but makes up for that with its "toob warmth".
A really cheapo mic that has the "tube emulating circuitry" and sounds good for vo is the MXL M3. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
