Thanks for the link, Elaine. One of the Talking Books I read was non-fiction, and had charts dealing with a psychologist's results about autism, and there wasn't any way to work them into the read. It wasn't a textbook...I'm sure there is a protocol for that.
Same book, another instance: There were graphics scattered between the text to show what was on flashcards the autistic boy used. As best I could, I would describe the scene & say the words on the cards. It was tricky, but I had to keep in mind that I was the "eye" of the listener.
