Has anyone ever participated in or, even better, helped set-up a VO Workgroup? If so, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts, ideas, experiences and such.
Thanks,
Jon |

The VO Workgroup (or Work Out Group) would be a group session where a number of VO folks can get together and work out copy and scripts and bounce ideas off of each other in a non performance arena. Something like the Voice Over Work Out Lounge(VOWOL) or the old Daws Butler sessions using scripts from " Scenes for Actors and Voices."
I hope this helps. |

Joanie Gerber in Hollywood has been hosting workout groups for years. At times the room would get pretty crowded with the number of people honing their skills...but it was always a fun night.
I tried to put a similar group together here in Utah..but there was a dearth of dedicated v-o people here so it did not work. |

I wonder if this could be done as a conference call or some other industrial magic sort of online Yoda thing ... |

scooter - doo ...
we must try to do this. i've talked with gp and frank and craig and there are others in zion proper who may be interested. i'm slightly stumped on the where and the how approach so ... let's figure it out. something casual, allowing for us to hone chops and stretch and bring scripts to the table we otherwise might not get our hands on. _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. The only problem I see with a spontaneous workgroup is if there is no experienced leadership rise above the newbs. A group of inexperienced folks sitting around trying to teach other is a recipe for disaster.
Part of the reason the VO-BB is such a success is because we have lots of experienced folks guiding discussions. _________________ Jeff

What # / when do I call? This sounds worthwhile, and I nominate Frank to head-up the first one.

Thanks, and yes, we are looking into holding a few of these in our area, maybe in some locations near you Dave...

Not fully grasping the concept of a VOWOL yet...I can't say, Jeff.... but I love the thought of the interaction on any level.
