I hope this didn't really freak any kids out.

I sure raises a question about quality control, doesn't it?

This appears to have been caused by a simple distribution error. This particular doll was obviously intended for shipment to the Wal-Mart in Gaza as another typical suicide bomber recruitment tool for Hamas.

I apologize in advance for my poor taste and indiscretion. Feel free to delete this post and rescind my membership, Deirdre.

Nothing wrong with wit, humour or satire. A bus driver on the Gaza strip when asking your destination is not trying to work out the cost of your ticket he is merely trying to establish your level of optimism.

The average voice over would expect the bus driver to select reverse gear, over charge him, blame me and then post here saying that what happened was exactly what he wanted any way.

I may need to rescind my own since I thought it was bleakly humorous.

My question to the person who did the VO of Elmo... is this going to be added to your demo?

Actually, it sounds to me like a personal joke that got misplaced in the mainstream.

It sounds like someone thought it would be funny for the doll to say that when a certain combination of circumstances happened - like a series of specific "presses"

I did a web VO for a tech company through a design agency, and the design agency had as their MO that they would always add a little "spice" to their products by inserting an anomalous item for the entertainment of end users.

For this particular VO, they had me add a line which would be activated if the end web user was watching the presentation between 3 and 4 am, and if they pressed a particluar combination of keys. The line was "What are you doing up so late? Time for bed!" in the same sexy robotic voice I had read the rest of the job.

Whether the end client knew about this, I don't know. I suspect that this type of thing is what happened with the Elmo doll, and the manufacturer didn't know about it.

I heard it on the radio this morning, and a lot of it is "suggestion" (or selective perception. Lsten to it again and see if you don't hear " who wants to go?"

muy interesting.
