I just got a request to quote for 3 :30 political spots for a small-time politician somewhere in Texas. Would the rates for political spots be the same as a typical local radio spot, in the $200 - 250 range?
P.S., the spots are in Spanish, not sure if that makes a diff _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

| Regardless of the rate (what you quote seems okay), the first rule for political spots is payment upon delivery. That is, not "net 30" or anything like that. When (if) they lose the race, they tend to forget their obligations. |

. . .and yes, the rates are the same, plus a premium for Spanish in my book. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

I moved too slow and they got another guy. They asked me to submit one of the spots as a demo though which I did. They said they get a lot of this kind of stuff and in fact have another bunch of spots for another local politico. I hope I get some of it.
As usual, my heartfelt thanks to all. _________________ Joe Rodriguez, Bilingual Voice Actor | The Voiceover Thespian Blog |

Definitely Cash in Advance. TV stations require it before they will air a schedule so the campaign shouldn't blink when it's requested by the talent. Not only if they lose but also if the campaign runs out of money. _________________ Pam Tierney

sorry to hear that, man. another one will come along.
btw - there is no premium for Spanish - i wish there were. the reasoning is because there is less exposure (less networks) AND because the advertising budget for Spanish compared to English is much smaller.
