Deirdre,

This is great news. You'll never have to work another day of your life!

It's sad to see people go the way of the Dodo.

Someone, somewhere, is responding to that e-mail in the affirmative...proving that the Dodo is not, in fact, extinct.

The sad thing is all the little old ladies who respond to this kind of crap.

One man's vengeance can be found at www.ebolamonkeyman.com.

It is hilarious, but be aware of adult content.

Sadly, many many people respond to these.

The U.S. State Department actually has a section of their website devoted to this type of scam.

There have been dozens (that is not an exaggeration) of executions of Americans (and other non-Nigerians) who've gone to Nigeria to claim their millions from these scams, only to be kidnapped, held for ransom and then executed.

I think there was just something on TV about it.

Terrible.

I get more than a few of these e-mails unfortunately.
There was a case here in Manitoba that a senior did reply to one of these, sent the money (about $30,000) and received endless e-mails & phone calls asking for more.

So, the senior & a "rep" of these bastards arranged for the rep to come over.
Get this, he NOT ONLY WANTED the rest of the cash, but to be re-imbursed for the flight from Toronto to Winnipeg. Classic definition of "Not only pooping on the doorstep, but ringing the doorbell and asking for asking for toilet paper". Turns out, when this schlep asked to be re-imbursed, the cops nailed him BUT GOOD as they were at the senior's house.

Tom,

This must be a Canadian expression as I've never encountered it before. Quite a vivid word picture though!

Bob,
"Not only pooping on the doorstep, but ringing the doorbell & asking for toilet paper"
I got that from a fiction novel obout an NHL team in Cleveland, "Puck is a Four Letter Word" by Frank Orr. The book was written in the early 80's.

I thought it was the long-awaited sequel to “Les Miserables”.
