I am in search of a phone patch. Currently using DIGI 002 Rack. Any suggestions? Also, would I need a mixer?

If you are looking for something simple, try the THAT2 from JK Audio. It works very well.

Dan, it's pretty simple and a mixer is not required. Simply connect the phone patch to an input and output on the 002. Create two tracks in a project, one Audio and the second an Aux track. Set the input on the Aux track to the corresponding phone input. Create a Send on the Audio track to the phone patch mic/line in. Adjust the phonepatch and you're set.

I have a JK Audio, THAT-1. Works fine for me. If I were to go again, I'd upgrade to the THAT-2. It uses XLR's instead of RCA's

You want a simple.... I mean REALLY SIMPLE, phone patch? Plug a good headset into your cordless phone.

YEAHH... it's cheating, but honestly... buying more gear is overrated.

Keep it simple. (and cheap)

Been there and done that. But then when they want ya to play back the recording just to be sure......Doh! :lol:

Also the JK Auto Hybrid---even cheaper (or maybe the same price), and no need to take handset off phone, so when you're not in "patch" mode, you can use your phone normally. See jkaudio.com

OK. After all this time from my original post, I have finally added the phone line and have connected the JK Audio AutoHybrid. The problem is I have latency in my headphones. Is this normal?

The set-up on the Digi 002 Rack goes as follows:

JK/Caller into DG002/Mic/Line 2
DG002/Output 3 to JK/Send

DG002/ Audio 1 Send to DG002/Analog 3 (Output 3)

Also, DG002/ Aux 1 has a hum from the phone. (Is that normal, too?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You've got it set up right, just turn on Low Latency (Under the "Operations" menu) and you're set. I can't help you with the hum but it's probably just cables or another device that's turned on.

Select "Setups" from the main menu, followed by "Playback Engine." Set the H/W Buffer Size to 256 or lower and raise CPU Usage Limit as needed.

EDIT Feb. 14, 2009: The hum I mentioned above was due to radio interference from an AM station transmitter around the corner from my studio.

Glad to hear it! You may hear some funky things if the buffer gets slammed, in which case you can always raise the buffer level on the Playback Engine.
