|
|
Hi Everyone!
I presently am using an EMU-1616m with a Rode NT2000.
The results are pretty good.
Recently I have been auditioning at my agents who use an Avalon 737 and wow..what can I say. I want one, except its too much money.
THEN, I saw the Presonus Eureka mentioned and at $499 it seems like a bargain.
My question is how do I hook it up through the EMU 1616m - do I just use a mic cable? The other question would be what level would I set the EMU to?
I would assume as low as possible.
Or is this a silly idea?
the main reason is that I want to get an ISDN line in and I want to sound better (if you know what I mean)
Many Thanks everyone!

Processing needs to be done before it gets to your computer input. Although I don't actually own any of this equipment, I believe the order you'd need to use is
Rode NT2000-to-->Presonus Eureka-to-->EMU-1616m.
According to documentation the Eureka is a preamp so your EMU-1616m would need to be set to "line" and not "mic." The Eureka has simultaneous TRS (phone plug) and XLR outputs so one of those inputs should work. Always best to use XLR if possible.
Hope this helps. |

use the line in via the TRS. Just pop an XLR from the Eureka to the TRS of the EMU (via XLR-TRS cable).
Best way to bypass the preamp of the EMU. Otherwise (as many have found to their chagrin), you can get a very muddy sound. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser

Ahh yes. I knew the great folks of VO-BB would know the solution!
Thanks so much.
My only other question is whether it would be better to get a preamp with S/PDIF output as I assume that is a digital output.
Does anyone know of one as good as the presonus with a S/PDIF output?
Thanks guys

okay, two comments here.
take a good, clean preamp... add a healthy dose of EQ to the 6K range.
You have your Avalon 737, or at least so close to it that most wouldn't notice.
But I digress.
really, I'm not too worried about S/PDIF so long as my AD/DA is good. Especially with an LDC microphone. There is such a thing as being too clean.
However, if you really want one. Audient is all right, and the TL Audio VP-1 has worked well for me in the past.
I'll still take a GR and Aurora over both though. LL and HEDD for the win if you've got the cash. _________________ Voiceovers by Gregory Houser
