Seeing Bill's post about his daughter's video project reminded me of this. I heard this kids voice screaming at his brother from across a ball field one afternoon. I went up to he and his mom and said, "If he can read, I'd like to use him on my radio show." We had him cut many intro liners that folks loved. They were played the second song after the top hour ID. We never gave his name but he was found out in carpool. (Tripp, that sounds like you!?)

The other thing that was kind of fun was when a guest was on the show or even a tour group, we'd have them say "Beef, it's what's for dinner" as in the famous Tv commercial using the classic piece from Copland's "Rodeo, Hoedown."

Ok...back to reality.

Good stuff Bill ... very creative. I cracked up a couple of times when the kid got the joke as well. Thanks for the fun!

I quite agree. Very cool, Bill. Are you that funny in real life? Laugh

Awesome.

I loved the "ridiculous introductions that I have to read" one.

I last saw Tripp at an alumni basketball game. He is married and a father of two.

I've got a couple of 10" reels with his liners on them. We later did some walk-a-thon / public appearance type gigs. What I liked was that his voice was at the place where there was raspiness and almost breaking. Plus, his voice was strong and would really carry. He could go hunting armed only with a megaphone.
(rimshot)(jingle)(record)
But the real plus is that he could deliver a punchline. Local radio was so much fun back then. I'm going to share your coments. He'll get a kick out of this.
