Hey Guys,

I just finished writing, voicing and producing a spot for Google Audio Ads and wondered if anyone else is familiar with their program? I would like to get listed in their talent directory so potential clients can find me, but my searches thus far have been fruitless.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Rich

Rich, yes, I have some experience with Google Audio Ads. I was interviewed by Donna Bogatin from ZDNET about it as well. I was on a call with a representative of Google and while chatting he asked if I did more than just voiceover, I elaberated and he asked if I would be willing to submit an application to be one of the vendors...while he could not promise anything, he felt that perhaps something could come of it as it appeared I met the initial criteria.

I completed the form, then was contacted to write, produce, voice etc. for the "Google Checkout" ad (as the other poster mentioned). I later received a note that the ad was received and they would get back to me. They did get back and I have been accepted, however they are not putting new vendors on the list until they come out of BETA.

So, as far as you getting connected, it sounds like you have done the correct things...submit your application, submit your produced ad (once they contact you with all the requirements/direction) and then just wait for a reply.

Hope it goes well for you!

First impressions... perhaps they should have considered having actual vo artists voice their training demo.

I like the example spot for BedLounger.com. The guy blows into the mic a couple of times (well, actually, he just blows as a voice over).

Here's where to find the example spot:

It is at the bottom of the page.

ROFL!!! I know... I personally like the Q&A between the guy and girl at the end (it was painful to listen the entire way through, but the ending took the cake).

Well, I hope it works for Google. I wouldn't be terribly impressed as a prospective advertiser.

That was seriously some nasty audio....like nails scratching on a blackboard. I just read this morning how Google's profits jumped 69% in the first quarter.....Now I know how they saved a portion of the $1 billion Gasp they earned in the last 3 months.

I think part of the problem is that this is a whole new frontier for Google and they clearly haven't hired or retained through their acquisition people who really know the industry. Otherwise, they wouldn't put such a shoddy product out there. I just hope that the people who applied and were turned down won't think it is because they weren't good enough.
