I'm not sure why I feel compelled to post these thoughts except that I've had them all week while reading of the VOICES goings-on and now in the re-caps the thoughts have sprung up again.
I realized my schedule in the 30 days prior to the event probably would preclude me from attending VOICES. My reaction was a bit different than the posted disappointment or feigned jealousy of others not being able to attend the conference, I was OK with not being able to attend (though I understood the disappointment of others).
But here's the thing, leading up to it, I was getting excited for those who would get to go. I was happy to read the posts during the show (here and on various blogs) and I am thrilled to review the follow up comments.
I'm just truly happy for those of you who got to attend.
I've had the good fortune to speak and meet with many on this board (I decided early on that visiting with y'all would have surpassed the benefits gained from any seminar); I've study with Pat Fraley, met and enjoyed spending time with David and Stephanie from voices.com etc., so I think that part of me knew how much you folks were going to gain before you knew.
It was kinda like being the Da on Christmas morning when you know what's under the wrap but the baby doesn't and when the baby realizes what they've received, the priceless reaction is the best gift of all!
I'm also thrilled for Frank, Dave and the Vegas team for pulling off VOICES successfully. Everything in life is a risk, performing in front of people is a real risk and inviting people from all over the country/world to attend your event that may or may not turnout to be worthwhile in spite of ones best intentions is one hell of a risk.
I hope the satisfaction/reward of such a well enjoyed risk is equal to the intensity of pulling it all together.
Congratulations to the producers, sponsors and attendees. You are all pioneers. I'm so glad it was a wonderful journey! _________________ - Peter

Me too, mixed with happiness for those who got attend, excitement that I got to feed off the vibe of those returning, and sheer determination to make it next time.
I'm not ashamed to have all those feelings. It makes me want to try harder to be better. _________________ Jeff

Very nicely stated, Peter. You've got a big heart, and understand the big picture.
My prediction: V.O.I.C.E. 2008.... WHEREVER it is (bunny slippers or no) will see a 100% increase of VO-BB regulars.
I can tell you I am saving every penny already, to make sure I go again. I've heard some of the rumors about next year, and I take back all those statements I made about them not being able to top 2007 in 2008.

I find it hard to believe they'll top 2007. While there are things to be tweaked, I am still amazed this was only the first year they put this on. The talent they pulled together and the incredible organization made it seem as if it was year 10 or 11. Kudos to those involved. I too have started scouring the sofa cushions and all pants pockets for every penny I can find to get there next year. Bravo to all concerned! <><><><><><> (insert clapping sound here!) _________________ Pam Tierney
