I must be fortunate to have missed that insult. I've been V123 "free" since March 3rd.

Got it, deleted it along with all the others I've gotten there as of late. In 3 weeks, only 1 job met my fee. Of course, in the 10 minutes it took me to send in an audition- I was number 87! V123 is all about private leads for me and little else...

Boy, would I love to hear some of the auditions on this one though!!

"Take that Shalalee and Stick it"!

Oh- and has anyone else noticed the message that says something like, 'For legal reasons we must allow all types of jobs and budgets and can't screen them?" I'm paraphrasing...but, what is that all about??

I completely agree. With V123, it's all about who can get their audition in the quickest and that is certainly not indicative of getting the best talent for the job. The fees (or lack thereof) have gotten REALLY ridiculously low lately-even by V123's sub-par standards.

That disclaimer is a bunch of Sh(*#. They know damned good and well it's too low so they shouldn't accept it. Unless of course they AREN'T the professional voice casting resource they claim to be. Bitchin

Covering their behinds in case some litigious members decide to go after V123 because of all the garbage leads.

That's twice someone mentioned litigation...I'm tired of people who sue just to sue...it messes things up for the rest of us that grin and bear it!

(For the record...I once sued a drunk driver that crashed into me...so don't get upset at that last statement if you are in litigation over something!) Shocked

and yet, they say we don't need tort reform... yeah right Sticking out Tongue

when I read sites like www.overlawyered I can understand why V123 has to put up disclaimers like this.

Thankfully I've never had to sue, hope never to have to either.

$100?? Say $500 and then we'll talk.

I don't like to see anyone sell themselves short! Unfortunately, someone is going to bite on this gig. More's the pity!

To be honest, it's LOL @ most of the people with ability on Voice123. I've just read this and it sums them up perfectly.

You are acting like the man who was so keen to acquire some silver coins that he kept offering to swap them for the gold ones in his pocket.

The lame low-ball auditions are good for a laugh, at best. But I've had several (bordering on many) lucrative private leads from both of the big cattle call sites. Private leads. That's why I remain a member.

I'm certain Amy's approach is the right one. With Voice123 one should not spend time helping to make its' system work but rather use it to help make your system work.

Philip,

Exactly. Spending money advertising one's services is a good idea, but we should do so in the manner that most effectively maximizes our return on those advertising expenditures.

No, I was acting like someone who thought the posting was absurd. I haven't been on V123 that long so I haven't the long term experience you all have had with the low ball postings.

1) Pick the leads that pay the reasonable rates.
2) Pick the leads that seem interesting and pay reasonable rates.
3) Trash the rest
4) Keep your V123 Profile/Resume updated.

Suffice to say...I trash more than I answer. In the end I make way more back than I pay in fees. Just another form of advertising.

Rich, just in case you thought my post was about you and what you did, it wasn't, neither is what follows.

My point was more a general observation as to how people appear to behave in relation to Voice123 and how they keep going on and on and on about how bad it is, or isn't, or may be or may not be or could be.

The people who run Voice123 owe themselves a return on their investment, this appears to be at odds with the majority of voice overs who pay the fee and expect to be cast by Disney within 24 hours or to get a national TV commercial at the very least.

A few years ago I paid the $199 fee and in the one year I was on there got nothing from auditions but made probably $2,000 ish from private leads, Ten fold return is not bad, very good I think. The site is another place to promote yourself on the internet. Voice123 owes no one a living and will do nothing at all to get you work or value for money. What you get from Voice123 and any of your marketing efforts is up to you.

OK, let the games commence. I have just renewed my premium membership at a cost of $195. I'll keep you informed so we will be able to tell when I (A) have got my money back and (b) Am in profit.

God save the Queen!

No worries Philip. All my post did is reinforce that I should have probably lurked a bit longer and read the archives more thoroughly.
