Anyone else get a callback from Voices.com about impersonating Stuart Dunkin of Dunkin's Diamonds?
The guy is obviously not a spokesman or a voice-talker as evidenced by the MP3 he sent me. He wants me to "impersonate" him and "Duplicate it exactly". I guess that means he wants me to sound crappy too?
How would you handle this request? _________________ Jeff

I also got the same request. I think it is a very odd one because he essentially wants his voice delivered w/ talent. I can do a few impersonations, but they took a long time to perfect and I would say that they aren't dead on like some people, like Rich Little can do.
It would take a lot of time and money to try and reproduce his voice and it is absolutely not worth it to me especially given this is an audition, not even the actual gig. |

I didn't. I looked at the email and saw that it wasn't sent directly to me but just a BCC: sent to untold numbers of other voice talent. I figured that was reason enough not to respond. |

That's odd. He emailed me directly... to get my email address. I think I'll just thanks but no thanks him. _________________ Jeff

my reply to him:
Mr Dunkin,
I appreciate you wanting to consider me for your project. Unfortunately, I'm not an impersonator and my voice does not naturally come anywhere close to yours. Best of luck with this!
What I really wanted to say was :
Tom Shane of the Diamond Center does his own ads, why can't you? _________________ Jeff

I had to smile when I saw that job... his stores are here in Fort Myers.
I'm not surprised he's having a difficult time finding someone to impersonate him! Wouldn't that be hard to do for just about anyone? _________________ Caryn Clark... The Hip Chick Voice!

I just don't understand why he wants someone to impersonate him... He's kind of annoying to listen to. _________________ Jeff

I didn't think his voice was that bad considering. I've heard people doing their own ads that are much worse.
Did you guys reply to the job and then he emailed you or did he contact you from your profiles on voices? _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

I bid on a job that read "I am looking for a voice that can sound like my voice, but with much better delivery to do 60 second radio spots." and since I didn't have a sample of his voice at the time, I gave it a shot and bid. but now I know I'm not right for it. I don't do New Yawk accents very convincingly. At least not to natives. _________________ Jeff

I got it too. I was trying to figure out how to impersonate yet sound better. So I guess a bad impersonation would be good? _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

He should probably hire an ad agency to do this kind of work for him. _________________ Jeff
