I'm just wondering what people generally include on your demo CDs. Do you just duplicate what's on your website, with just montages, or do you include full versions of your commercial tracks? How about corporate and other long form narration?

I know this has probably been covered elsewhere in the archives, but it's late and I'm feeling very lazy and just want to sit back and watch a DVD. Laugh

And yes. I am thinking about what I should bring to Vegas in terms of demos.

Cheers.

Maiku

Serious question. Will there be any buyers in Vegas?

Now to answer your question. My demo includes -

Track one is a pot pourri
Track two corporate
Track three narration
Track four something to get a laugh

If my CD is being sent to a company working in one specific area I will include Track 1 - Their area of interest and then "see above".

Ditto Banks in all of the above with one question:

Are you bringing these demos for the Saturday Critique?

Dunno, but I want to have something with me just in case.

Roughly how long for each track? Are the corporate/narration tracks a single read or a montage? Sorry if I sound like a newbie here. I have a CD layout I use over here, but I figured it would be somewhat different in the US.

I wasn't planning to. You think I should? I thought it would be a bit cheeky since I'm also on the panel in the discussion straight after the critiques.

Pot pourri is 1 min 5
Corporate/narration up to 2mins 55 with a few styles and some technical words. People who are looking for something specific need longer pieces as they want to know you are able to hold attention for more than 5 or 6 seconds.

If anyone remarks that a demo is too long then I conclude that I'm dull.

I didn't notice anything. I'm still mesmerized by your new avatar Deirdre.

Jacking here:
It's all Pat Fraley's fault.
