This is the center of my Koi pond this morning. That cannonball size ball of ice on top grows every day!

What causes an ice formation like that? It's chilly here, too. 72*. I might wear shoes when I go out to water the flowers.

Amy,
When the temperature falls below freezing, that's what happens to water. _________________ Be well,

Thank you. Here in L.A., ice only comes in cups.

We know!
When you order a drink in LA with ice the waiter asks "Will that be half frozen, freezing, part frozen, froze/freezing, freezed/frozen, with a twist, with a taste, snowed, blowed, frappe, glace, glacier, Evian crushed, Perrier Perishing, oxygenated water, aerated water, irritated eau, sparkling part melt, part melt with sparkles, still fresh, frozen boiled, chilled distilled, cubes or spheres?" |

I usually order half fluoridated, low-density amorphous, wild-harvested glacier.

Amy,
Whatever doubts I ever had that you really are from Los Angeles have just been blown to bits. (And I mean that in the nicest possible way.) _________________ Be well,

70-degrees Farenheit today (2-6-07)... another week of this and the trees will start budding.

With afternoon highs in the teens and twenties this will be our 11th day without getting above freezing.
And this is Lexington, KY fer cryin' out loud. I feel like I'm back in Wisconsin. |

Got you all beat on the high end...it was 83º here yesterday...two weeks after we had two early mornings at 22º. All our tender little desert plants are confused. They had their all their leaves and small branches burned off a fortnight ago and now they're being told Spring is here.
If you listen closely you can hear the hibiscus screaming.
