Nice chair Philip! Looks comfy too! I gotta get me one of those Wink

I have a new preamp on order, it just hasn't made it yet. Maybe by the end of the month, hopefully sooner!

"Be right with you, Sir. Chair 3 will be free in a minute" said the Barber. What would you do? I waited a minute and took the chair, for free, as offered. 80 year old Italian Barber or not he could run really fast but I lost him near the Muckle Cross Pub in Elgin. He slipped on some watercress which was being thrown at me by my ex.

Banksey,

I used to live in Elgin. They made lovely watches there once upon a time.

Did your Elgin have a Muckle Cross Pub, Bob? I used to work in radio in an Elgin where they made watches, but it was a long way from Scotland!

Tony,

You've picked up on my sometimes dry sense of humor. (Can you year my kids saying "Dad! Sometimes?" in the background?)

I think it's fair to say that you and I are talking about the same Elgin, in Illinois, Northwest of Chicago. Clearly not anywhere in the UK, Scotland or otherwise. So, when did you work radio in Elgin? Did you work at WJKL? (A friend of mind used to be the Hobo Laughing there, long ago.)

I thought maybe I was sensing some dry Souer there. Or Souer dry.

Yes, I worked at WJKL/WRMN for a couple of years in the late 80s. Good times, lousy wages. The Hobo Laughing then was a guy named Marty Zivin.

The watch factory was long gone by then, of course. Replaced by a shopping center.

There were places to drink, but none as idyllic-sounding as the Muckle Cross Pub.

Philip,

What a charming looking spot, but Tony's right, an entirely different Elgin. Roughly six time zones away.

Threadjack Alert (me):

Scotland has some of the coolest names for their cities, towns and pubs. There is always some mention of Buck, Buckey, Muckle or something of that sort. We have few names as cool here in the US.

I even remember Banksey saying they had a Buckey Day or a holiday with a similar name?
