What's your relationship with your agent(s)?

Do they reach out once in a while? Ping you on your birthday or when you've won an award?

Or do they just send you auditions and the occasional admin email?

Just curious and this is not a loaded question.

Thanks

Ping me on my birthday? I cannot think of a reason why my agent would know when my birthday is. I have great relationships with my agents. I took one out for dinner in NY the week of Thanksgiving. I took another out for dinner out here in LA just this week. Both business dinners. I had fun at both. And I have socialized with agents, my spouse, their spouse. But this is a business relationship. I've had 5 Emmy nominations and I don't recall if I ever heard from any agent. I didn't feel slighted if I didn't. I care more that they respond to a texts or emails in a timely manner.

My Denver agent, pretty personal--no birthday cards, though I did send a sympathy card when his mom died. In San Francisco, they use an auditioning system that eliminate emails so there's a lot fewer opportunities to banter; I don't know any of them very well. In Chicago, mostly the same; auditions and admin, but we've had our moments. Houston went sideways during the pandemic and we hardly know each other now. New York, they keep it very brief; I share updates on training or bookings, they say 'great!' When Impressive Talent was still around, I had a great relationship with Lisa.
