Loosely translated:
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
If you drink good booze
Your pipes won't rust.

Sort of like “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, so we can have a drink”, there are a lot of choices for celebrating the new year.
Western, January 1
Orthodox, January 14
Chinese, January 22
Tibetan, February 21
Tamil, April 14
Islamic, July 18
Jewish, September 15
