I'm tired of paying Quickbooks $300 every year for basically just an invoicing program and just now my search has turned up this:

Wave Small Business Accounting - https://www.waveapps.com/accounting

It is online, but totally free to begin with. The way they make their money is by charging a very normal fee for accepting credit card payments and e-checks for you. They also charge for payroll services but I'm guessing most of us don't deal with that.

Here's a review from PC Magazine: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/wave

Changing accounting programs is a lot easier at the beginning of the year, so I'm seriously considering acting shortly.

Anyone with experience with Wave Accounting?

B

No experience of my own yet. However, this looks fairly promising other than being a free service storing data on a cloud system. I'd like to know more about ownership and the level of potential for nefarious use of financial data of its customers...

If you do your own business taxes through TurboTax small business ($90) then they bundle the annual subscription for QuickBooks self employed for free. Works really well for me.

I used Wave Apps for a good couple of years, and that was in its early days. It was solid even then. Never really had any problems.

The only reason I switched from it is that I could integrate Zoho Books with my CRM and generate invoices automatically from captured job details. If WaveApps played as nice with the CRM, I might have kept it.

However I still use it for the bookkeeping for my hold co, and a community organization I am a part of keeps its financial records with Wave.

Everyone I know that uses Wave Apps is really happy with it. One of the best deals around!

Hi Bruce....did you ever try this free accounting software? I am going to move all of my accounting and invoices online starting for 2021. Quickbooks and Freshbooks seem good but Waves appears to do the basics for free which is all I need. Tired of having to worry about backing things up all the time so I think I will put it all in the Cloud so I can access it from anywhere. Thanks.

I just pulled the trigger on Waveapps about a month ago. So far I'm impressed with what it does. It's basic but it seems to work pretty well. Marc Scott has great things to say about it as well I've noticed.

Been using Wave for a little bit now and am impressed.
JUST started using it for expenses but am wondering, BRUUUUCE, if you've been using it for a bit and if anyone has used it for full-on accounting purposes.

Greetings, all.

Came here this morning to poke around a bit and noticed this thread. I may have mentioned Manager in the past, but I'll toss the recommendation out again. It's pretty much a full accounting program (more than I need), but it's free and you may find it worth a look.
