Don;t know if this has been fielded recently...

an article in The Atlantic...

BoJack Horseman’s Diane Problem Is Now an Industry Problem
High-profile white voice actors are relinquishing their roles as characters of color. But the departures have caused divisions among their peers.

I have notten gotten jobs due to my age, appearance and sound.

Casting - The person has to be RIGHT for the job not white for the job.

A few years ago a TV announcing contract was coming to an end, these things happen. I was interviewed for a newly created "Mega Dept". 3 people conducted the interview. If the panel looked at all the information, hiring me made commercial sense, not ego, simple fact. I did not get the job. Why? 1 -Jane, the new Head of Dept didn't like my style or me. No idea why the latter was the case as we'd never met. 2 - On the new team they already had two male voices so they hired my friend and colleague, Fiona.

A few days after the announcement was made I met one of the TV News reporters.

"Sorry you're not going to be around any more, Philip" said Jane.

"Fiona will still be around" I smiled. Jane just rolled her eyes. Solidarity girls!

I am old, white and ugly. Opportunities for me are limited.

No question the casting paradigm is shifting.
Animation, to me, has always been a freeform of interpretation because it's not usually reality so.. let an Asian play a caucasian or let a Brit play an American (The Walking Dead TV show is filled with Brits playing Americans- even though it's a live production)

If anyone has seen Ford vs Ferrari recently you would see that strife and how it affected Ken Wiles (the right guy to drive the Ford GT40 at LeMans but not the social aesthetic that Ford Marketing exec thought should represent Ford)

Doors are opening and doors are closing.
In the end there are only The Doors......see what i did there?
