Just got the text from a new client Smile

In the email she requested that I speak “American Slang”.

She was out of the office before I could ask any questions.

Ever have this kind of request ?

It seems that I have liberty to play round with the text but I didn’t see many places to use Slang.

Any thoughts ?

Is there Slang for the phrase, “saying a fond farewell ?

From the movie Die Hard there’s “adios motherf**ker”. Mmmmm, maybe a bad example.

They bid each other peace and “stay chill”. Smooth sailing, brother/sister. We’ll see you on the other side. “Hugs!” Miss you. Be careful out there. Don’t take any wooden bitcoins.

Speak slang in what context? Are you being expected to improvise a piece or something?

Err, thanks Bruce for the suggestions.

“Be careful out there”, now that brings back fond memories.

Is, “see you later alligator” out of style now-a-days ?

That’s a good question!

It’s a narration for a company that makes large machines, and the text is quite straight forward.

Never worked with this studio in Germany before.

She just wrote, Speak it with American slang.

Maybe she means a more American pronunciation... Less formal and more relaxed, use contractions where reasonable, vary the pace a bit, less serious and warmer. Ah, a "familiar" approach?

Yes, I was thinking along those lines too. But there are no places for contractions.

“See you later alligator “ was really a joke.

Guess I will try to make it as relaxed as possible.

Thanks for your suggestions Smile

So's "23 skidoo."

I used to end my radio show with ,"T-T-F-N. Ta-ta for now." But that was 45 years ago.

At this point, who can know that she, as a foreigner, really meant what we know as "slang?"

If it were me, I'd give her an example and ask if that's what she means.

Who knows what her interpretation of "American Slang" is? When I lived in Sweden I had a Swedish friend who loved to toss out the phrase "flower power". This was in the early 1990s...only 25 years or so out of date.

If you can't wait for her to get back to her desk and elaborate...well...you could have some fun with it. . In this case, you're the expert.

Philip, you might be correct, vocal fry and uptalk !

Most likely, “what we have here is failure to communicate “.

Being German she probably means something else than what she wrote.

She is out of the office until Tuesday, but I promised to send it on Monday,, so I will have a little fun with it Smile (thanks Kim).

Dude! This is ....
