As I posted previously, I got a narration job for a cookbook.
I have been recording pretty much every single day for about an hour (on top of my regular job and doing VO auditions).
So you can imagine my heart sank when I got these emails...

I called ACX and they were non-specific about what happened. The second person I talked to said the guy ('Josh Wells') was approached by them about something, a ticket was created, he never replied to the ticket and therefore his (their?) account was cancelled.
So I'm left drifting in the wind.

I'm awaiting a call back from an ACX supervisor to see what, if anything, can be done about my time put into the project and what vetting is done regarding rights holders. It seems to me that I could just start a project on ACX titled 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone', claim I'm the rights holder and start soliciting for voice actors.

I'm beyond pissed about this and wanted to post it here so other people are aware or can chime in.
Ugh.

Beyond pissed? I'd go for "livid". Here's hoping for a helpful answer.

I believe that if the first 15 minutes were approved, you are due a cancellation fee. If the "rights holder" has vanished, then ACX should make good on that.

I think the only ‘contract’ is the agreement overall as a narrator in ACX.

You have a contract: https://www.acx.com/help/production-standard-terms/200485540
but it doesn't specifically state what happens in this situation.

ACX does NOT care. Their only interest is putting product on the shelf. You deal with Rights Holders at your own peril. At the rate they are having issues web failures etc if they are not going to implode down the road.

Be that as it may @sounddguy, I've requested a supervisor last week. Haven't heard back so I'm in full 'crawling up there **' mode.
May not get anything for my troubles but at least they'll know.
