My previous request for recommendations of accounting software for Mac stipulated that I preferred NOT to have to pay an annual subscription AND not be forced to put my client's data (and my own) on the cloud.

It appears those three requirements are not met by any current accounting software, so now I will ask our Mac users which accounting software they use that does not mandate cloud usage. If an annual subscription is the only way, then so be it.

Thanks!

I'm still using Quicken 2007.

It's the reason I keep some of my computers on an older operating system.

Thanks, John. I'll check YNAB out!

Deirdre: Thanks. Yes, I don't upgrade my OS until it's absolutely necessary, for that same reason. (I'm still running Sierra, OS 10.12.6, from 2016. They're up to Catalina, 10.15.x now, from last year.) I don't fix what ain't broke. Wink

I've been researching these programs for my own use as well, and I think the "no cloud" concern is likely impossible to find in newer software. Programmers believe "everyone" wants online capabilities with multiple personal devices which necessitates one dedicated server, theirs. "Everyone" wants online backup as opposed to sending the info to another disc. "Everyone" wants instant upgrades to the software if needed and they want powerful interactivity which is sometimes better in the cloud on their server than in standalone software on your machine.

Sorry about that. I'm afraid all the big tech companies have won this round in their attempt at world domination.
