Who here has tried the Brave browser? I'm reading good reviews - fast, secure, automatic popup blocking, etc.

Yes, it's basically Chrome without all the bloat and spying mechanisms. No browser is completely secure, but Brave is much closer to being so.

Until they get traction and market share... and then complete their monetization plan Smile

No one does this without a plan.
Build it and they will come... and then we can squeeze, extract, and sell their stuff like everyone else cool

I take no one's assertions of good intentions very seriously, but one does what one must to stay a step behind in the p3wning wars.

Vivaldi is another good Chromium browser, with lots of nice features.

It's by the guys who made (and sold) the Opera browser to the Chinese, and now made this on their own. They already made their money.

I'm reading and responding to this thread using Brave right now. It seems to look and feel exactly like Chrome.

An interesting discovery while using the Brave browser for a week now is its invisible to my tracking service. I have visited my site a handful of times on desktop and Android, both did not register a single visit. However, Chrome and all the others do.

It does register, just as Chrome, which is its engine (known as Chromium).

Not according to my stats. Here's what tracked when you swung by and switched between Chrome and Brave.

It should track two separate browsers or, if you're correct, double the page counts.

(Ignore the 6. That's how many times you've visited in 177 days)

Hmm, looks like I'm wrong. What an odd feeling... :)

I see that in your reciprocal visit, I have you twice, but now I see that it's the two pages you visited. So yeah looks like Brave doesn't allow tracking unless you specifically allow it to.

Dan, I just visited yours site again with Brave, this time with the "shields down" setting. Let me know what you see.

From Brave itself: "One of Brave’s core goals is to protect peoples’ privacy online, and to prevent online trackers from following you around the Web. Brave protects users against many different forms of tracking, including state-based tracking, IP tracking, and fingerprinting (or passive) tracking."

And that was it! Shields down allowed the browser to be tracked and it does display a Chrome icon. So, you got that right. Wink

I'm really digging Brave.

I'm looking at BRAVE on WIKI and indeed ad revenue seems to be a part of their approach, but it's convoluted...

I gave it a try and recently it became slow to start. Anyone still using it?

I still have the icon on my desktop, but I stopped using it after just a week or two. There was one site I regularly visit that it didn't play well with, and switching back and forth between it and Chrome created some other issues.
