You and me both, Todd. Don't know how I did it but I want to kill iTunes now. |

Just right-click an mp3 file (or whatever file you want to change defaults for), and choose "Get Info"--from there, you can select the default program used to open that kind of file. _________________ Jack Daniel

You have exceeded my service ceiling, I fear. _________________ Jack Daniel

In my experience, if I'm in my finder and I soft-click an mp3 (a single click, not a double) and then hit the space bar. The mp3 will play with a low-fi internal player that is not an actual program like iTunes or a DAW. _________________ www.juliaknippen.com

A very good point. Any space-bar depression on a selected file will cause it to be previewed, if possible. I use the preview function to listen to audio files all the time, as well as to check out videos, see pictures, read a PDF without launching Acrobat, etc. The one thing Preview is lousy at is previewing Word docs, as they will appear quite small and Preview offers no way to adjust the size. Still, a very helpful shortcut when you just want a quick listen or view. _________________ Jack Daniel

Todd, if I understand you correctly, have you tried going to Safari preferences, under the General tab, and at the bottom making sure that checkbox (Open "safe" files after downloading) is deselected? _________________ Mike
