Yeahh...that's a made up word.
A Quizintry for today.
Without using a search engine who said this?
Don't audition to get the job. An actor is supposed to create a compelling, interesting character, that serves the text. You present it in the environment where your audition happens. And then you walk away. Everything else is out of your control. |

It sounds to me like something several notable film actors might have said. Katharine Hepburn comes to mind (I can hear her speaking those words [or Martin Short imitating her]). But the statement is also confusing to me because of the conflict it introduces: First, "Don't audition." Then, "...in the environment where your audition happens." _________________ Mike

I first heard this advice, or something like it, from Jeff Bridges on the Tonight show many years ago. He said something to the effect of, “My job is to give the best audition I can and then walk away. Every so often they will call you and say, ‘Wanna play?’”.

I've seen him quoted a number of times, and the guy seems to have a good handle on the machine and how to survive it... so, I'm going for Bryan Cranston.... it just seems like his sort of advice. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

This is well put. I agree with Bish, it sounds like Cranston. _________________ Jack Daniel

No idea. But it is the usual wisdom which comes from a person who knows the outcome is that they are unable to influence the outcome. Such wisdom comes only after years of experience. |
