when the boys were young, i travelled a lot. on one of my trips i came across these. so, i started looking for them everywhere. when i saw a stack i bought three or four. we read every night i was home. everything from "black beauty" to "aesop's fables", first me ... then them. in turn all three of them learned to read from these classics. it's one of my favorite memories & it makes me a little sad. of course, it wasn't your intention, but thanks for reminding me.

*this is not my picture, it's from the internet

Yep. I would add, you need to keep telling it until you're finished. Most of the time, this won't happen all in one go.

The Whales will sing in June. Mother has stood for long enough. Fire in the sky. Fire in the sky.

The above was a message for our "friends" in Philadelphia.

“Hold someone close and tell them a story.” Excellent advice I’ve tried to live by in audiobooks. Which is why I’m so peeved at the readers with terribly stilted reading styles. One of them is arguably the most successful narrator out there. I own several of his books but only because some of the best book authors and publishers have been bamboozled into using him. Just effin’ awful. Sigh.
