Nice. Yes Virginia?

Wish my kid hadn't been so abused by that situation. He grew up with radio all around him..

Actually knocked the automated FM I worked for off the air one Sunday morning when he about 4 years old. I was on the AM doing a live shift while he played with his matchbox cars on the floor in the main lobby where the automation racks were. One of the big Revox decks was playing and he stopped the reel with his finger....took the the whole thing down for about 20 minutes while Dad wrestled with the cranky/old-school Harris automation to get the station back on the air again.

He saw Daddy and a few guys take that station live and make it into a market dominant (20-share) CHR smoker. We ruled.

Later he went to work at that same station as a jock and CSD. Citadel bought it...installed a Donkey as GM and proceeded to
ruin everthing that had been built. He was worked to death for
$h!t money and finally quit.

He's an electrician now. But like anybody thats had broadcasting in his blood...he'd go back.

All thanks in the end to the end of ownership caps and deregulation.

Ah well. It was wonderful while it lasted huh?

Just wish small market radio could have survived. The public's
ownership of the airwaves is long gone.

The words:

We've looked at a lot of properties, and we decided on this one because it is a leader in the market, the revenue stream is better than we normally expect in a market this size. This is a well run operation and it's obvious that the format and the personnel are much of the reason for that success - be assured that we know enough to not tamper with what works.

The meaning:

We'll replace all of you in the first ten days and lose the audience immediately, the revenue will fall to practically nothing and then we'll find a sucker and unload this underperforming bag of phlegm and end up making a profit in spite of our incompetence.
