I jest Dan, when I say you only like Rush. I would imagine you like bands that do Rush covers as well. Or other bands that also like Rush.

And I too like instrumental orchestrations (music to the multi-syllabic challenged) leading to the rest of that all that stuff you said, which is why Pink Floyd is probably my favorite overall band, but the band Yes and probably the song by Arlo Guthrie, Alice’s Restaurant fall into that category as well. Especially the part where they all start jumping up and down yelling ‘Kill..KILL’.

But I digress...

There aren’t enough words to say how wrong you are. I'm going to allow the great Albert King to explain a little of what the blues are, as apparently, you’ve never had that lesson. And then he’ll make his guitar explain the rest.

Afterward, you tell me how this fits into your little ‘pop tune formula’.

A slight variation. The chorus is represented and repeated with the guitar hook presented at the beginning of the song. Then the verse, guitar/chorus, verse, chorus, bridge at 5:52, and back into the original hook to the end of the song.

Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus. Take out that first chorus and it looks mighty familiar.

A bridge at 5:52? That’s a stretch. Of course, there’s a formula for all songs. Even jazz, although I don’t’ know what it is. But that’s like saying all stories are the same. An open, a close and the story in between. But is it a novel, non-fiction, a documentary? Romance, suspense, horror..? While almost all songs share a similar structure, even RUSH songs, it doesn’t mean they all fall into the same genre. The song I posed to you was as far away from pop as Taylor Swift is from John Lee Hooker. Or Lord of the Rings from It’s a Wonderful Life (my favorite movie by the way)

So, while we pontificate over Rush vs all other orchestral endeavors, we need to get back to the substance of this post. Which is mucus and brain rot, remember? Something that may be experienced by Neti Pot users or Justin Beiber fans. Either way, it’s supposed to be informational, not a vehicle to chide me because I don’t have a shrine to Rush, as you do, in the foyer of my home. However my doorbell is kind of shrill. Kind of like Geddy Lee's voice, so maybe there is something there.

Standard Jazz is basically a melody line is introduced, then each player gets to solo around said melody, and all come back together for one last round at the end.

Jazz Fusion is best described as "EVERYBODY SOLO!!!!"

Miles Davis once used a neti pot, I believe.

By that time the priests of the temple of cyrinx will have taken over caller-on-hold once and for all
