Actually, I was hunting owners of "voiceoverist" related domain names and found this on a Voice Over blog. The writer was talking about learning and coaching.

"Where he is wrong in the statement he made was he only pointed out the problem but did not offer a solution."

He, was "me" and his comment regarding my feedback was true. About 3 Skype sessions one hour in duration. Cost per hour rounded up to the nearest $? ZERO. My professional time sells for a minimum of $250 per hour. His blog continues to make some valuable points but at no point records the value derived from any conversation with me, never coaching, just chats or the costs involved. Not bitter, angry or puzzled about the blog as what occurred proved the inspiration behind a thoughtful and informative piece.

Having given, not simply the above but the so-called voice over community some thought it crossed my mind that we need to do what we do because we do and for no other reason. That tends NOT to be the case. Karma, paying it forward or ego massage are the real reasons which is why so little is achieved by so many for so few. Those who speak, write, (yeah I know) or listen for free are users, for the most part very hippocratic as they do no real harm.

From the book of (personal) Revelations. This is why I do what I do. I do not want people to drag their tired bodies through the mire of shite I had to in order to open the gates of Voice Over Heaven (Cue - Choir of Angels). Guess what? For the most part, I AM NOT HELPING. Do you know how I learned to land an aeroplane well? I repeatedly landed an aeroplane badly, very badly.

Happy landings tout les monde.

On the other hand, even the most shite job of voiceovering is very rarely fatal.
