On Friday at around 7pm I was visited by Marion a freelance reporter (Gnome) working for the BBC. As you all know BBC Radio 4 is the best radio station in the entire world, like so totally ever innit. Why I hear you cry?

Early Friday morning a producer from the station called me on a telephone. He (they) knew that decades ago I changed Horses from being in investment management to being a part of the heady world of overs we call voice.

"Do share" he said "we have heard from our audience that he is off work on Tuesday and wants to hear from someone who occupies the part of life labelled - Never very far from being interesting! Agree and I shall send a reporter to your home upon this very day!"

I agreed.

Whilst this is something of a major career coup, up there with meeting the man who was in the thing with the lad who was in the other thing, I shall not listen as I heard the unedited gibberish live.

No time? Random.
w00t we shall be missing it, then, innit.

actually, I has a sad about that. I would rather like to hear you in a proper (BBC Radio 4) interview.
I don't hear much of Radio 4 since the Helen and Rob thing went so sideways on The Archers, and Sandy Toksvig isn't the Host of the News Quiz.

If you say "Pint of Shires, Joe?" followed by "excuse me I've just need a word with Kenton" twice a day then The Archers will be the same in your head. For the Sandy Toksvig effect on The News Quiz imagine Miles Jupp in brogues and a beige cardigan knitted by a listener from Tunbridge Wells.

The slot on BBC Radio 4 is the one occupied by You and Yours, or for 3 mins 30 seconds of the broadcast tomorrow, me and mine.

Like most things I do it will prove eminently missable. So your time would be more profitably spent drinking tea and playing the new video game from the English home counties "Capture Johnny Alien and send him to Winchester so he can learn Latin, Cricket, some manners and not to be quite so frightful!" I do hope you told everyone how being a voiceoverist is the secret to obtaining massive yachts because people just can't wait to drop large piles of money into our laps for "just talking," so anyone can do it. Shocked

I smell a reality show...

"The Voiceoverist"

A day in the life of top International Voiceoverist Philip "Money" Banks.
See Philip as he wheels and deals with top producers, jet setting to all over the world, with his faithful companion, Bess, by his side. Coming this fall to Dave.

You and Yours was great! My few minutes, not so much, except for the last 20 seconds.

You recorded it, of course, and will put it up in the Philip Banks forum here.

No I didn't so no I won't.

BUT!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b42plx fast forward to 27 minutes. Piece about 3 mins long. As it was a live broadcast it gave them time to field some more calls. Choppy editing of the piece made it sound nonsense to me but the last few seconds remain intact, the only point I made any sense. Bound to happen sooner or later.

I like how she ran out of air.

That was rather spiffy... and you made sense throughout...but I do agree that the last twenty seconds or so were the important take-away.
