We haven't done this in a while. If you'd like please share your Internet Provider info: Company, Download Speed, Upload Speed and monthly cost if you can break it out from your overall bill that includes cable TV and such. If you don't have a favorite way to get you speed information, enter "speed test" in your browser and several options are out there.

I'm with Comcast/Xfinity, upload 175 Mbs, download 6 Mbs, $87 per month.

That rate jumped up to this number when I took cable TV out of the package. Comcast has a monopoly in my neighborhood so I have no other choice apparently.

mediacom (a monopoly in my neighborhood) 1gb/50mb - $100/mo just internet

this test is via cat6 cable. wi-fi is something less than 600mb/60mb

i had been on "mediacom for business" which was supposed to grant me all sorts of bonus hoo-ha, but never really did. what it DID do was continue going up in price to, ultimately, $250/mo for tv/phone/internet (60/5). so i "downgraded" to residential service 10x+ service for a lot less.

I'm jealous Todd! We have Frontier competition just two blocks away but can't get it under the monopoly arrangement. They used to be both 25 Mbs down and upload. I just checked and it may be the same.

I am with AT&T Gigpower or Uverse or whatever they are calling it today. $70/mth for the next 2 years (normally $100/mth). Connected via Cat5e through a switch about 300 feet from our router.

Competition is good. Comcast Xfinity is available and Google Fiber was supposed to be here two years ago but they've stalled installation. When Google announced service, AT&T kicked the speed into gigabit territory.

The upload speed is unbelievable.

WOW! i've never even heard of an upload speed like that! amazing. you must scare the crap out of youtube.

there's a brand new fiber line running 80 yards from my house that, as far as i know, is not hooked to anything at either end. i saw them putting it last summer ... i think they (whoever THEY are) ran out of money.

1GB is more than most individuals require, but it ended up being $10/mth cheaper than my previous 50Mb up/10 Mb down service. It is proving to be more reliable too. Better quality, faster speeds, cheaper price... who says you can't have all three?

The added value is that I never have to kick anyone or any service offline when running a Source Connect session.

impressive by an order of magnitude...
the provider seems to be concentrating on the central US corridor.... not happening here in the DC area...

I'm out in the boonies, one of those rural areas that they tack on the extra charge on your phone/cable bill for so we can get high-speed access. So far, nuthin'. So, we have a microwave relay from a mountain about 8 miles away.

Depending on who's watching TV via the same relay in the neighborhood, we can have download as low as 6 and as high as 12 or 15; uploads are anywhere between 1 and 5.

It hasn't been an issue for recording and uploading files as needed. But, I'll sure be glad when Colorado stops spending that money for rural access on overcrowded towns that already have really good service and just want to hog up the bandwidth.
