Hei Tre!

Greetings from a cool place, Finland.

"Hei" is Finnish for "Hello".

First 2 months of the year were great, but March hit a brick wall.

Can't complain...got a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and food in the belly Smile

Things are starting to heat up now.

Welcome to the forum!

Dear Tre,

After thirteen long years, I am finally taking a vacation. The family is packing up and leaving for Hawaii next week. The house sitter already has the keys and I have a floral print shirt pressed and Scotch-guarded in case I spill my Mai Tai.

Aloha,

Dan-O

Great to hear that everyone is doing well. I'm struggling between my day job and passion. The voice work is really starting to gain traction (thanks to Nancy W) and is causing a strain on my time but it is a good problem to have.
Hopefully within the next 2 years I can transition to full time voice work. That is my goal and I am enjoying working towards it.

I'm going to give "it" another year and if "it" doesn't show up then I'll give up and continue blundering around on a daily basis picking up crumbs like everyone else.

Hah! That's me, for realz. I've been in "blunder" mode for 19 years.

I simply cannot get an LA agent. I’ve struck out with Atlas twice, with CESD, and now, with Vox twice. My students are getting repped, and I can’t get to 2nd base.

SO! Since the doors to the Triple-A VO biz insist on remaining shut and barred, I'm working on another biz. Our Friend Kevin Genus is also a Master IT guy, and he told me about the Grace Hopper program at Full Stack Academy.

It's an Immersive Coding Bootcamp, with deferred tuition for women.
Pretty spiffy idea for a Mutton-Club Member like me. Coding is like a puzzle, and puzzles are games. Yisssss.

I'm also managing Dieter's rather considerable legacy of artworks. There's a huge retrospective show at Bates College set for 2019— it was in the works before he died. I'll be doing inventory of a barn full of paintings for starters, and helping to oversee the catalogue for the show.

I'm headed for the Game Developer's Conference for a hit-and-run this week: arrive Tuesday noon, go home Wednesday 9pm. Not speaking this time. I host a party for Game Audio people every year, and I was going to set things in motion from a distance this year, but Virgin America had round-trip tix to SF from Boston for $225, and a pal offered the couch in his hotel room, so what the hell.

When I get back, I believe I shall audition for a play that will run this summer.

Because of some small game studios, a few reliable production companies & independent directors, and rock star Erik Sheppard, I have plenty of wonderful, satisfying work to keep the fire burning here at Camp Cooper. I'm fabulously lucky, and quite happy.

Well, that's what really matters, isn't it?

By the way, I can hear you thinking "Is she quitting AGAIN???"
Yeah, I'm a psycho, but I'm apparently not ever going to quit VO.

I've got new directions to focus on. it's nice.

Glad to see all is well....

I just got over a very bad sinus infection. Pollen has my car looking golden.
It's black.

I'm considering doing some things to my website, maybe condensing to a page. Less is more I say. My wife has found an even GREATER love for VO after the VO Atlanta conference, and will be getting more coaching (aside from me) and has an affinity for narration and audiobooks.

I've been pluggin away, marketing and auditioning and whatnot.
