Tom, I'm very sorry for your loss. I know there is nothing I can say that will lessen the sorrow you feel over such a personal loss, but just know that you have my deepest sympathies and condolences. _________________ TG2

So sorry to hear of your loss...wonderful though that you both were able to reconnect.

There is a powerful ad campaign centered around this very notion, though I don't know if it's just regional. Remember we women go through those "unpleasant" annuals so, please men, do your part.

Tom, Wishing you strength through this difficult time. I lost my father to cancer at 50 and my mother at 56. In know how difficult it is to lose a parent so early.
I don't want to take chances, I went through the colonoscopy experience recently - all OK. _________________ Gregory Best

Sorry to hear about your loss too... my deepest condolences, Tom.
I am working on my mom to make her have a colonoscopy done. She is extremely stubborn and reluctant. She is way way way overdue for that test. She just turned 78.
I encourage everyone who is over 45 to have it done, same for my sister. She is like mom! What's with you, stubborn people?!
Wish you all health! _________________ Best,

There, sir, in the midst of your sorrow, is the most spectacular gift you have ever received. And while there was the suffering of illness, there was the joy of being.
Many adult children have the difficult task of taking care of their parents in various stages of old age. It is heart breaking and sometimes back breaking work, as I am sure it was for you, Tom, and your family in the care of your father.
But you did what every child should hope to do: provide comfort and take care of the people who took care of us, our parents.
If one is lucky enough to have good parents, it is a gift to be able to give back to them as they gave to us.
My parents died within three months of each other when I was 25 but in that all too short time, my siblings and I were able to help take care of them and that was a gift.
While I am jealous of my friends who still have their parents with them, I had a gift and I try never to forget that.
Tom, you had that gift too. That's partly why it hurts so much.
God bless, say a prayer and never forget. _________________ - Peter

I've been a family caregiver to both my parents for the past 12 years... (won't go into all the gory details here, but if you want the whole story it's here for the reading - have some wine handy!: www.caregiverscommunity.com/aboutus.html ) - This is what I do on top of my VO life.
Taking care of & seeing a parent decline is so very hard. It is heart wrenching and emotionally draining...I'm so glad that you & your dad had the opportunity to heal - even if it did take a shove from mom! ...mom's are SO good at that!
Please know that my thoughts & prayers are with you and your entire family.

Tom,
My sincerest condolences. I've been where you are, two years ago this past Father's day. Rejoice in the time you did have, and know he will always be with you. |

Tom, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I'm just now catching up on the board because I was working the overnight shift last night for my dad. He is entering hospice care today. It's tough dealing with illness during the holidays. May you & your family have strength & peace & feel comfort from those around you. _________________ Mary |
