The people who made the most money during the California and Alaska gold rushes in the 1800's? It was not the miners. It was the folks who sold the picks and shovels and pans, and the beans and bacon and coffee to the miners.... the Merchants.

Yes! You guys have validated a hunch I've had for a long time, but because I have no high profile credits, if I express this it is often frowned upon. There's a Facebook VO group I'm a member of, and I warned new posters that saying "I'm new" is putting blood in the water for sales people who will swarm to tell them how to SPEND money, but will offer zero ideas on how to MAKE money! It was not well received.

The pitch goes: "Do you not have the Mercedes and beachfront home in Miami you know you so richly deserve? Is your Instagram account bereft of photos of you on a red carpet? Then you obviously haven't spent enough money! That's where I come in. Who am I? The person with all the answers! Attend my $500 seminar and I'll give you the keys to the kingdom! (Or will I? Maybe this is my 'introductory' seminar where I tease the $1,200 seminar where I'll really reveal all!)

"Of course, you could put your money into a savings account towards the Mercedes and beach house -- but don't! Send it to me! Follow your heart, believe in your dream, and write that check!"

I ceased pointing this out because oh, well, everyone's trying to make a living, and no use in making waves. But I was thrilled to be admitted to this forum because it's filled with "real talk" and not sales pitches.

Great video.

Just remember "How I wish I could remember of circle round, the exact relation Archimedes found."

Then you'll always have at least 14 digits of pi...
