It's great to have the occasional opportunity to do work for foreign clients. However, I must admit to cringing when the script arrives and it's very obviously translated from another language to English (expressly for an English-speaking audience)... and, unfortunately, translated poorly.
I generally wind up providing alternate reads for those passages whose meanings I am certain of. But sometimes it's a mystery as to what they're trying to say, and the tight turnaround time doesn't allow for questions and answers between parties separated by six hours or more.
So when I visit Kickstarter, for example, and watch the video, I have to wonder what other English-speaking viewers must think when they suddenly hear word salad in the middle of an otherwise lucid discussion.
Well, as long as the client is happy, I suppose... _________________ Mike
