Mmmmm... the article is two years old. More disturbing things about these services have come out since then.

Knowing that V123 offers a $4,950 membership (which turns off the filter that limits the number of auditions that most members see) to only a limited number of people should help answer that question. But...
Some would argue that "moral high ground" is irrelevant, and that questions like these are more important to answer:
"Is paying for the chance to audition against scores of other people (a small number of whom may have a HUGE advantage over me) via P2Ps an efficient, effective way to get gigs?"
And
"Is that time, money and effort better spent marketing myself directly to clients?"
For me, the answers are very clearly NO and YES, respectively. How 'bout you? _________________ Doug Turkel (tur-KELL)

Hey Doug,
I'm sure you're right. I'm moderately experienced as a VO talent but very inexperienced as a self-producer though, so the chance to build my chops while also getting reference experiences and making a little bit of money I think makes it worthwhile for me-- but you're right, I need to keep my mind out of the gutter and remember that the real work will be getting a great reel, building a website, having biz cards and being charming and professional at dinner parties, and the zillion other things I don't even know how to do yet!
