In case no one heard, Fred Collins – who was the first voice heard on color television (NBC) and over the years served as a spokesman for more than 300 of the Fortune 500 companies – died in August.
I was privlleged to work with him at NBC. I was a video engineer and Fred one of the many announcers back then. |

Home sick from elementary school in the late 60's, on my parents' bed with the TV on. I'm not sure if it was Camay or Dove, but I'm pretty sure it was the smooth voice of Fred Collins. His was probably the first real "voice" where I stepped back and said to myself... "I'd like to be like him." |
