Sometimes, like Colin, you get a job with great production and an nicely written story. This was mine that came early this year.

Mostly I get explainer videos (which I like), but this one was different.

Was hesitant to share this until someone on the BB encouraged me to do so.

I had the pleasure of hearing/seeing this before and will echo what I said before: beautiful. Like the piece Colin posted, occasionally you get blessed with a spot that borders on being a piece of art (or crosses that border into actually BEING artistic) and then they are smart enough to pick the perfect voice for it. That's what happened here.

So, so nice... in every aspect.

Thanks guys for the good feedback Smile

Actually Gary, it was a Neumann TLM 103, as it was not recorded in my home studio, but in a top studio in Helsinki. They switched from an AKG C 414 to the TLM 103 just recently.

Had done some work on the 103 at other studios before but was thought it to be a little thin. But this time I liked the outcome. Could be the micpre, the mic position or the room itself that made the difference.

Absolutely finntastic!

Every line of the delivery is top-notch, but also you excelled on the lines in the script that had the most resonance to them and brought them to life.

Put it this way: it's a great script and a great piece of film-making and you were just as great!

Thanks Lance and todd for your kind words.

Even though I have been doing this since 2008 (not full time) I find that I still need a pat on the back now and then.

We all work in our little boxes at home, or sometimes in a small studio somewhere else. It is great to get positive feedback from the client, but that does not always happen. (Especially in some parts of Europe where people are less likely to give positive feedback).

With this particular job, one of the 2 people who directed the recording came back to the mixing area, shook my hand and said, "thanks". Then I left to catch the train.

But for most of my work there is little interaction with other people, other than e-interaction. It feels like we are all "Lone Rangers " in a sense.

So when others from this Society of Lone Rangers takes the time to give a pat on the back, it feels pretty nice! Smile

Thanks guys!

Thank you Liz and Philip! Appreciate your comments.

Philip, If I ever get to Scotland to check out my Scottish roots, I may take you up on the offer Smile
