Just a few hours ago, I received an unsolicited email from an agent. "We recently had the pleasure of listening to a recording you submitted on a Voicebank Work Out" - and asked me to submit demos and a resume.

Just curious, of the fellow VOBBers that do Voicebank workouts, did any of you receive the same email? I've sent demos out to agents that gave me favorable remarks on past workouts (with no response to date), but I'm kinda taken back that an agent reached out to me out of the blue. Smile

Congrats!!

Has not happened to me, as I have only received responses from agents by repeated begging (marketing). That sounds promising, though.

Nope, stopped doing the workout because it became tiresome. Generic one-sentence "feedback" that provided little value.

But getting a solicitation from an agent is pretty good.

To get approached by an agent as opposed to the other way around is quite the compliment. Look them up on Voicebank, listen to the talent they've got, and see if you like the cut of their jib. If so, go for it!

This has often been explained as the reason for the VB workout. It's not the feedback (as Jeff says, that's usually of small value)... it's the fact that you can get your voice in front of the people who can get you closer to the people with the chequebooks!

If the agent contacted you, complemented you, and requested more information... then smile sweetly, do the happy dance, and send him what he wants! Smile

Well done & Good Luck!

Thanks! I already looked, and their voicebank roster is currently empty. They're a new agency that's apparently hungry to get going, their domain was only registered 2 months ago. But, one of the owners came from a large Southern agency that several VOBBers are with, so I think I'll like the cut of their job as soon as they have one. Wink

Ennh. Yes. No. All you need are money and time. YMMV.

Ok, I give up. What exactly is a "workout" in the context of VO?
