I've been looking for one of those double filters...

I believe it was George Wittam that was recommending this one not too long ago:

I have one on my 416 as we speak... works great, a noticeable improvement over the Stedman metal mesh one I was using before.

Hook pop filters are slick! I use the Sabra Som universal shockmount, works with just about any mic, but is particularly nice with long shotguns. It's got two layers of nylon, and I rarely have popping problems.

Paul, you wanted to keep things in the thread, so just to update you: The sound he sent to me was very akin to a mic gain being super high. I can max out one of my preamps and it will do the same. After some testing, he found that the gain was up high enough that it was picking up a furnace noise that was in another room. Furnace off, sound gone! He also sent over a sample recording with the mic in his new placement and it sounded great.

Thanks for the concise recap, Brian! And I'm glad to hear the new placement is better as well!

Thanks for the update guys. Glad to hear it was a simple fix. Other than being cold while recording LOL.

No worries, Paul. It heats up quite quickly in there (Nagasaki summers are killer.) I'm more worried about making my girlfriend freeze, haha.
