In the past, I've stuck with some P2Ps because enough people would contact me directly through them. Now Voices.CON has rigged the game so that you have to fork over the money in order to show up in their search.

No thank you!

It's all about asymmetry and leverage.
Where there is asymmetry of knowledge , power, and access, there will be exploitation (it's why in the real world, capitalism =/= free market).

It would be extremely helpful if such middle-man businesses were audited (either by government agency, or some independent body) and required to post statistics, such as:

what % of subscribers make a return on their investment?
what is the median ROI (in $ spent vs $ earned, and auditions to $ earned)?
what is the median gross vs. net (i.e. what the client was paying vs. what the talent received?

Of course it would be nice if these were further broken down, but even these simple statistics give us an idea so we can make a reasonable choice.

In return it would be fair that we as Top Professional Voice talent proved the sometimes outrageous, often untrue and for the most part wildly optimistic claims we make as to our abilities/credits/experience.

YOU (not specifically anyone posting here) are a TOP Voice talent.

Name top client/campaign in last 30 days
Give amount of voice over fees paid in last 30 days
Spell the following - Hake, Cat, dog and ampule
Do you consider yourself as a rider crying at the gates of Hell "Submit to my will for I take no prisoners"?
Complete the following sentence in 12 words or less or die a slow and painful death at the hands of 12 Girl Scouts with power tools "Philip Banks is the bestist voiceoverist in the entire world because ...."

... and, he has the power to request the removal of the letter "M" from the English language. The fact that he hasn't speaks well of his couthness. Wink
