|

Voice 123 is talking up its new "Smartcasting" which it seems will give priority to those talents with good feedback and who have had many gigs. This is great for the established talents, but a pretty raw deal for those who just joined or for whatever reason have not had many gigs. I'm in that category,
joined about a month ago, over 100 auditions, one talent seeker emailed with a preliminary approval but needed to run it by the client, that's the last I've heard. Now suddenly today for the first time on a weekday, no auditions in the email. Has smartcasting kicked in, or was today (Thursday) a slow day for everyone? |

It was a slow day for Voice 123 leads. Maybe the staff forgot to process them with their www.vo-bb.com imitation:

Did some of those posts look a little suspicious (set up) to anyone else? |

The Critique forum avalanche is not anything I envy, that's for sure. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

How do they know who gets the jobs? They've never asked me who I hired when I sought talent through them, and I never reported to them when I got a job either. Smells fishy to me.

Highly suspect. The real clincher is the height adjusted auditions that give the shorter voices longer odds, which as we all know is a tall order. |

Some appear to be overflows from the **** blogs.
I have also been curious about who's getting hired and who's not. I have read "testimonials" about how great and wonderful things are, and all of the connections that are being made "outside" of the website. I asked the following question about talent getting booked...
Quote: | With membership over 3000, it makes me wonder, not necessarily who is working, but how many of those 3000 are getting gigs each month through ****? Someone must be aware of how many jobs are presented each month to **** talent.
Okay... of those xxxx number of jobs, how many talents landed:
50 or more...
40 or more...
30 or more...
20 or more...
10 or more...
2 or more...
1 or less?
No names are needed. No states. No genders. Completely confidential to all parties. And what would the results indicate? A few of us are doing something right... and many of us are doing something wrong. |
Not even a hint of an answer. _________________ "Bailey"

That would stink for me. The majority of contacts I've made via Voice123 are emails outside of the service saying stuff like "I found you on Voice123 and are considering you for project X." I'm getting work from Voice123 but most of it hasn't "official". _________________ Tom Dheere - The "H" is Silent, but I'm Not!

I recently joined under the advice from a few people I totally respect. Their reasoning: It's another form of advertising. These talent do not respond AT ALL to the public auditions. They rely on the simple fact that if you are good, you will be found. The "respectable" producers will only work with quality talent. One, producer, recently said to me "If I want a quick $50 read from someone, I will go to my church or find a local DJ. Why would I want to waste the time of 200 people for such little money? (Speaking about V123 auditions) If I need a professional sound, I will find them and pay for it."
So in other words, Tom, you are working the system correctly. |

That's the way I've been approaching it, too, and Voices.com has already paid itself off for the first year. (I joined in August.) Still waiting for my first nibbles at V123 (joined in June) and CommercialVoices (September), but I'm sure they'll come. |
