Daniel,

You received a lot of pointed critique here, and I think you need to be credited for being open to that and responding quickly. I see you deleted the video AND the resume page and "Donate" button and tweaked your "About".

So Kudos to you. You heard quite a bit of negatives fed back to you and you took it well. I'm impressed. I'd still recommend working on the "About" page and really simply let the potential client know about your background, experience, client list, etc. I see you took down the second paragraph that was up there, but what is left still doesn't really tell a site visitor anything about you. So consider that.

Again... good for you for receiving, and acting upon, all the advice offered here.

daniel - nice job listening to the valuable insights here. my only suggestion at this point would be to lose the soundcloud players in favor of a simple html5 player ... something "sleeker" to match your theme. as for the "about" section - as someone who does a good bit of casting - i don't give a crap. your demos are front & center - i can contact you - that's all i need. that's not me saying you should take it down --- i just don't think the content is as important as some others do.

that doesn't make me right --- just my opinion.

But in THIS case... you ARE right.

Thanks, Scott. I couldn't imagine responding in any other way.

You might be surprised. People can get real defensive about their creations...whether or not they asked for feedback.

I know I'll never know everything about anything.

Hey again, my friend. Yup, after seeing the video I say take it down. You want people to hire you based on your acting and vocal skill. If your demo is done right and you are able to present your personality/brand with simplicity in the first 4 seconds of the demo, no need to try to sway them with a video expressing who you are. In fact, that can work against you.

If you are not well known or established, even a picture can work against you. You might have a baby face but a voice like James Earl Jones. Buyers may not listen to the demo because they've already judged your voice by your look.

I also commend you for listening to those taking time to comment. Even though you invited this, I cannot tell you how the majority get defensive or throw out excuses when critiqued. Even when they ask for it.

I teach my classes as if every student was like me. No sugar coating, pushing me beyond my comfort zone, telling me what I need rather than what I want. That allows you to grow.

I will say again, research the websites of the top vo talent working today. Go to Voicebank and research those represented by the top agents: SBV, CESD, WME, Atlas, etc. Surf their sites and emulate. Disregard the fact they have pictures. They are established, well known actors. If your marketing is comparable to the best of the best, you will be miles ahead of those who don't go the extra mile.

Never ask a question you don't want the answer to, right?
Kudos to everyone who took the time to critique his website, and to Daniel for listening and implementing suggestions.
