For various reasons I had a couple of different mic's at the studio and thereby a shootout option not to be missed.
In no particular order
NTG3 (Considering for on the road jobs)
Gefell M940 (My standard studio workhorse)
CAD E100s (For an aspiring talent I'm helping out)
I'm on both sides of the glass - and also interested in how well a mic can handle a heavy processing. Some mic's might seem great initially, but doesn't handle tweaking very well. So - 2 parts to every mic. Clean and a quick and dirty processed version with music bed.

This is tough - they all sound great...but I think you might have done it in that order.
Also, thank you for processing it. I think that's very important for testing. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

All are good. I prefer #1. _________________ www.asapaudio.com |

I would have preferred only one introduction rather than repeating the same :20 second intro before each sample.
That being said.
My preference was Mic #2.
Mic #1 was a close second and I thought #3 had a harshness that I found slightly displeasing. _________________ "I reserve the right to be completely wrong." |

The introduction is part of the test script - and recorded on the 3 different mics. Which by the way were
1: CAD
2: Gefell
3: RODE
My thougts working with these we're exactly the same as what you're hearing. I was amazed at how good the cheap CAD was. As for the RODE, I'm not used to work a shotgun and I'm sure it has a lot to gain with experience. _________________ Jan Park Holm

You're preachin' to the choir here. I love my CAD e100s and they'll have to pry it from my cold, dead hands. _________________ Scott R. Pollak

Well, I got the Gefell right and mixed up the Rode and the CAD, which is embarrassing since I use the CAD E100s also. At least I liked #1 the best!
CAD has always made wonderful tube mics (The VSM1 is amazing), and some stellar cheap mics too (The M179 and M177 are worth picking up from online auctions). When I heard they were making an American-made super-cardioid microphone with 3.7dBA self noise, (and nickel-plated capsule!) I bought it right away. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
