Did anyone else get that nearly-decade-old hoax in their e-mail tonight?

I haven't seen it in many years; but there are still, astoundingly, people who buy into it.

About a year ago, a client forwarded one of those "Bill Gates" emails to me. When I wrote back to him to inquire whether he'd really sent it or if a worm ripped off his email address and was sending them out to everyone on his list, he admitted to mailing it saying, "Hey, ya never know...maybe it works." Yep and Santa's bringing me midnight blue, Caddy Eldorado with gold trim.

I used to be in Customer Service at Microsoft. You wouldn't believe the number of calls we got on this type of scam. There were 3 or 4 iterations of this hoax. People actually got mad at us when we told them it was a hoax and referred them to Hoaxbusters for proof.

Ranks right up there with the foreign national who wants to give you a percentage of a large fortune if you will open an account for depositing the funds.

Amazing how many folks can be taken in by get-rich-quick schemes.

No Tom, that one is real. It is the deposed dictator of Fredonia who had his brother-in-law's cabana boy's girlfriend's hairdresser's salon commercial VO guy from the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, spirit out the country's treasures that you have to worry about.

I like the one that says if you make the 20,000th post at VO-BB, you get a free trip to Scotland, where you will spend 7 days with Philip Banks learning how to be a true Jedi "VO" knight.
... atleast I think that's what I read before I deleted it.

OK!!!! I am firing up the auto-poster now. Don't worry if the lights dim. It will only last a moment.

Ron,

The Marx Brothers and The Mouse That Roared in a single post. Very impressive. Smile

Actually, I'd like to meet Banksey in person. Are you're saying he's a hoax?

I had also considered throwing in Tomania from The Great Dictator but one must know when to stop. Much like comic.....................timing (or is it comictiming. Never can remember which is funnier).

Isn't a Hoax the beast from the tar pits of Rhonda in episode 32 of Star Trek XII - The Veil of Carf?

Captain Dai Evans, Evans the Engine (engineering officer), Evans the Gun (security officer) and Evans the smartass (science officer) all land near the offices of Plaid Cymru and are taken to a tar pit where a male voice choir .... No, if you've not seen it i won't spoil the end for you.

"Ydi'r bechgyn yn dod?" says Captain Evans seeing the crew out numbered.

I didn't watch any other Star Trek series, were the all in Welsh?
