I've seen several places selling lists of contacts (agents, production houses, etc.) on mailing labels, but have yet to find such lists of email addresses. Am I looking in the wrong places or has this just not come about yet?

Not seen the email address equivalent of sticky labels. I would not encourage a blanket email marketing campaign to promote yourself as a voice over as such campaigns tend to be unsuccessful.

I think you are much better off to make your own list based on your specialties, which means doing the work to "pre-qualify" each company before contacting them, whether by telephone or email, to find out if you and they would be a good match.

It is so much easier to sell your services when you believe wholeheartedly in what you're selling. And that in turn is easier when you focus on the areas of VO at which you excel. No email list you can buy is going to give you the names of people who need what Joniv is the best qualified to give.

Look for Stage Source's THE SOURCE guide for stuff in the "Greater Boston Area"

http://www.stagesource.org/pages/19_source_source_online.cfm

The other thing to do is look at credits of projects you like and see who is doing the producing.
Find 'em online through Google.

It seriously works. Laborious? sure.
I kinda think we've all done something like it, though.

Thanks, all.

What I was thinking was to take the list, check out the company web sites and email the ones I feel I'd be a match for, asking permission to send a demo. I've created a database where I'm tracking these leads and would like to expand upon it.

Thanks for the tips.

Deirdre, intersting idea on the google search for credits. What do you put in the search field for your criteria? Producers+Dove Soap+ad agency? Or something like that?

I meant find out who the producers are first THEN Google 'em to see where they are online.

I've done this with game developers, looked on the box credits for the people who would be the go-to guys for the voice side of things.

The IMDB is a gold mine for that, too.

Beats me about the commercials, but you lose nothing in trying what you've suggested.
National spots are cast through talent agencies. You can find out who those guys are at VoiceBank.com.

Speaking of IMDB, has anyone else peeked at Pam's listing? Second City! Wow! Color me impressed.
