WOW... I feel so enlightened.
Now I know I can be a real live voice-talker pro with Roger on my team...I've always been concerned with controlling my stomach. _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

I'm no expert, but it sounds like there's some Pilates exercise in the breathing.
(I have to admit that the S.O. is rather like that "one key on the piano. " ) _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

The concept is sound - however for most folks - the "average person" - we breathe from our chests (yes, the 'girls' do the work), For Singers, and VO folks it should be from the lower abdomen that we breathe.
When working from our 'stomach's'; twe allowing us more air to speak those awful l-o-o-o-ng sentences.
Howver, in my case I no longer have a stomach to breathe thru - it's too big - I just call it my spare tire now....

That's good, because nobody can hear you unless you have a microph---

Frank, that's an expanded resonance chamber. |

Well... excuse me if I don't stand on a mountain and tell the whole world, I've just heard the best Speaking advice ever given.
I'm getting real confused now. Some VO's say to "keep it down" and let the mic do the talking.
The same people tell us to not speak loud because you're straining the vocal cords.
I can understand the belly thing. I learned that in theater. We called it projection way back then... when you didn't have a microphone hanging from the rafters, so the people in the back row could hear you speaking.
That felt good. Guess it's time for another Diet Coke. _________________ "Bailey"

Bailey....Don't be confused dear fellow. It's quite simple. There's no contradiction there. One way is refering to "voice TALKING" techniques and the other is refering to "voice OVER." techniques. Consult with the Voice Talking Guild leadership for clarification. _________________ TG2
