VO-BB - 19 YEARS OLD!

Beyerdynamic DT770Pro 80ohms, 15 yo AKG 240's, and playing with a variety of IEM I found on Amazon (jury is still out while I break them in).
On the cheap side, Sennheiser HD201's surprise me every time, and portably the Koss PortaPros are a perennial favorite. I find the Sony HDR7506 or V6 to be very harsh to my ears, like the Yamaha NS10's of headphones to me.
I am a bit of a headphone addict. When my wife buys a pair of shoes, I get a pair of headphones. That's the rule.

As I type this I'm looking at my old pair of Sennheiser HD450 phones.. my VO favorite - they are very lightweight & articulate detail (such as mouth clicks) well. Also have a set of the AKG K240 & the Sony V600, but to me both these are better for music listening; compared to mics, a simple analogy would be Sennheiser is condenser with Sony/AKG dynamics.

Another vote for the Sony MDR-7506, but I'm deaf in one ear so can't be a super critical judge. On the plus side, If one ear ever shorts out, I can just flip them around.

So George do you have a closet full of headphones??
I can't help but imagine you sitting on the floor trying them all on.

There are a few things that I've read here that I'll point out as general observations.

If you are feeding back from the headphones, they are either too loud or you are working the mic too close. The difference between the AKG 240 and the 240DF are the ports in the back, the ports on the back of the 240 DF were closed off.

There is not such thing as Best headphones, as there are no Best microphones, there may only be better. What I have discovered is that you find a set of headphones that are comfortable, something that you can wear for an extended periods of time. (90% of the time I listen through monitors, it's only when I'm doing focused/critical listening do I pop on the cans.

Like speakers you need to understand how your headphones translate to other systems. Some like their cans to be very neutral, others like a little color, I just like a little extended upper frequency, with an overall balanced sound.

I seem to be in the market for new headphones-maybe a strappy sandal--oh, wait; that's for the other closet. Seriously, there seem to be several 240's offered, one costing about a hundred bucks (Studio?) and the other about $200, the MKII---I like something not too crunchy (for me the Sony's are a little strident--in fact if anyone wants to grab an unused pair, please PM me and we'll figure something out)

Back to the 240---Which model will give me the nice mellow mids of the old AKG 141 before they changed the specs and made them cheaper and treblier?

I've been using a pair of Sennheiser EH150;s for the past few years,..I;m not even sure if they make them anymore..

Nice find, Bish! I am grabbing two pairs myself to keep on hand for clients. They look and feel a bit cheap, but the sound defies the price, and they are pretty comfortable, not too tight. $17.82 from Amazon with 2-day free shipping if you have Prime (like I do), and no salestax in CalifornIA.
