Anybody notice the dicotomy of ideas in two of the current threads?
1) Internet Jock thinks it's OK to pay $26 to talent for a :30, and our members seem to run every shade from supportive to dismissive.
2) V123 is suggesting we charge $410 to $570 for a :30, and our members seem to run every shade from supportive to dismissive here too.
If it proves anything, it proves we are a Big Tent party, and wherever we get out keg money is OK with most of us most of the time.
I'll drink to that!

It's not so much a dichoto-ME
it's a dichoto-US. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Belly up to the bar.
I agree.
I have stated that V123 is interesting... my point is not that the price is too low ($570-35%=$370.50 - not a bad wage), but that the 35% commission needs to be re-distributed to something more like 15% Talent/20% Client - and I will stick to those words. Think about your taxes folks - as YOU have to claim the whole amount.
The VO low-bidding process somehow cheapens the experince - should it not be the client bidding to VO Talent? Maybe I am wrong... I could be - no - I am not.
On the other hand - IJ (InternetJock) at $26.00 a pop is livable - if you have more than 150 spots a month or average approximately six spots a day or 37.5 per week. ($3900/mo. based upon those calculations). To paraphrase an old movie "you can live on it, but it tastes like &%&$t". In this case; "you can live on it, but it means a lot of VO for little pay".
So, with those cheery tidbits in mind - do your darndest...
Toodles,
Frank F

Does IJ make you audition a million times for that $26? If not, their ROI sounds a lot better than Site That Must Not Be Named. |

MCM,
No there's no auditioning at all. The clients have to go through the owner to get setup, and yes they must use a major credit card before he'll even let you order anything. If it's a first time client, no credit card= no order. The clients then log in and listen to the demos and choose which anncr they want to use. Client then uploads the copy, it goes straight to the anncr. Anncr cut's it, uploads it and the client is automatically notified. You don't get paid by the client, you get paid by Internetjock. He keeps track of all orders and invoices, you just cut the stuff and get a check by the 10th. There's no waiting for the client to pay before you get paid. The owner is an anncr and runs it like one, from our perspective. It's really a great setup.

Yeah, it's always fun until someone's butt gets stuck between the two beds. Um, you know, from what I've read in books... _________________ Lou Zucaro
